From jcfsantacruz.org : The purpose of the Japanese Cultural Fair is to provide an opportunity for the community to increase its awareness and understanding of Japanese culture. We believe that through increased education and exposure to the culture of Japan, we can help to improve mutual understanding among neighbors of the Pacific Rim and enrich the community of Santa Cruz.

Previous events have included: Chanting, Aikido (martial arts), Taiko (drumming), Minyou (folk song & dance), Shakuhachi (bamboo flutes), Bon Odori (folk dance), Shamisen (folk music), Ikebana (flower arranging), Sumi-e (calligraphic ink painting), Bonsai and Kimono demonstrations/workshops. 

Previous food vendors have included: Kaito Restaurant, Maido catering, Full Steam Dumpling, Zen Natural Foods,  The Japanese Cultural Fair Ice Cream Booth, Miyuki Restaurant, Watsonville Taiko Group Fundraisers, Mume Farm, Sushi Market Sprouts, Hakouya Miso Dressing, Santa Cruz Zen Center.
